“Sydney Traditionalists” Facebook Page Taken Down

DislikeOur friends and supporters may have noticed that as of some time last night, the “Sydney Traditionalists” Facebook account has been down. The administrator who runs “Sydney Traditionalists” received notice this morning in which Facebook indicated that our account was in violation of the social media platform’s terms of use.

Apparently, and as explained in the notice, the account should have been established by us as an organisation page and that timelines are reserved for personal accounts only. Of course, the reason why the account was established as a personal one was to facilitate our membership in various traditionalist groups on the social networking site, and thus allow us to promote our events and news. To our knowledge, this is not possible with an organisation page.

This morning’s notice then invited our administrator to follow suggested steps which would automatically translate the existing timeline into an organisation page. Unhappily, while these steps were taken, none of the data translated as promised and all timeline information has now been lost. No warning was given to the administrator of this action by Facebook.

We are now in the process of considering whether or not it is in our interests to establish an organisation page on Facebook for the Sydney Traditionalist Forum. We thank our supporters and friends for their patience and assure you all that this process is far more frustrating to us than to our readers.

  1. Pity. Seems to me setting up a page is a good idea.

    • Update: we have decided to create an organisation page for the Sydney Traditionalist Forum on Facebook. This may be complete and live within the next week. The organisation page will, hopefully, allow us to promote our events, news and opinion to a greater number of people online.
