Orthosphere Update

We were disappointed by the sudden shutdown, seemingly without notice in December last year, of Mark Richardson’s Australian blog of traditionalist Conservatism, OzConservative. It is therefore with sadness that we hear Laura Wood’s The Thinking Housewife may share a similar fate in the near future.

Wood informs us that Mark Richardson is on sabbatical, and that related matters have kept him away from online publishing. However, it is perplexing why Richardson chose to temporarily retire from online publishing by also blocking or deleting his blog from the orthosphere. His ongoing eBook project – which we recommended to our viewers on various occasions – is now no longer available for prospective traditionalists (and others interested in our worldview) to peruse and interrogate. We hope that one day the blog or its content may be reinstated.

If indeed The Thinking Housewife is to be retired, we certainly hope that Wood allows it to remain online for archival purposes, much as Lawrence Auster’s View from the Right has also been kept online. After all, entries on The Thinking Housewife and View from the Right have been referenced in print and other online media; it would be a pity to see past content removed from the public domain.

If our readers are in the position to assist The Thinking Housewife financially, they are encouraged to contact Laura Wood to arrange a donation. In the meantime, traditionalists in Melbourne are invited to contact Mark Moncrieff of Upon Hope in relation to face-to-face events being organised there.

We take this opportunity to further recommend the Hestia Society for Social Studies, with whom we have recently entered into fellowship, and their online magazine Social Matter.

Update (4 February 2015): We read today that The Thinking Housewife blog has reached its funding target and will remain online. We wish Laura Wood all the best for another year of online publishing.

Thank you for your post, I have already received a contact from here.

    • We are glad to be of assistance Mr. Moncrieff. It’s important that we support each other in the orthosphere.

It’s a pity that there is such a dearth of traditionalist online portals and associations in Australia. From what we have been able to glean, our group is the only ‘paleo’ oriented organisation in the country. Why is it that traditionalists cannot organise (even on a superficial online level) with the same gusto as the left? This remains a mystery.

If we don’t actively network, if we refuse to assert ourselves in the public square, then all is lost.
