“The genuinely conservative government will not shy away from drawing necessary distinctions between what is compatible with a free society and what is not conducive to maintaining a stable body politic. If we insist on an unquestioning equivalence of ideas, we risk dismantling the traditions of our social estate.
“Likewise, on a micro level, conservative commentator Luke Torrisi instructs parents to educate their children in the rich cultural legacies that form their identity: ‘What stories, songs, tales, dramas even lullabies will you share with your children in order to convey to them their identity and their values?’ he asks. The purveyors of ‘multiculturalism’ often forget that a strong identity is also essential for the descendants of our settlers and those who identify with their historical experience, so that society remains emotionally centred and develops a healthy patriotic instinct. Torrisi reminds us of this important yet neglected truth.
“The ideology of the radical and the ‘progressive’ cannot deliver what is needed; the present system has proven itself to be a failure, and this is why we need a conservative revolution.”
